Gymnastics Meet

Last weekend, there was a level 3 gymnastics Meet in Chantilly. It was my first real Meet as a level 3. This competition was at the exact same gym last year(I was a level 2) and not much changed. I was very suprised at how many different gyms came! It was a very fun, exiting, and nervracking experiance for me and I’m glad I went.

When I first walked in, I was greeted my the sound of cheering from the level fours just finishing up their award ceremony. Soon after that, my team walked out onto the blue, springy floor. As the 10 or so different teams started to stretch, I noticed that the whole floor was like a kind of organized chaos, people running back and forth, trying to get a decent seat on the stands. Our first event was the vault, where all of the level threes would vault off of the springboard and into a handstand before landing. Personally, my favorite event is the vault. The next event that we had was the parallel bars. As soon as I got within 7 or 8 feet of the bars, I could smell the chalk and feel the chalk particles floating in the air. The bars were my worst event because I ended up falling and painfully smacking the bar in the way down. I didn’t place in the awards on bars. The whole meet is way too long to write about, so I will stop after just the first two events. So: as a summary, I really liked the Meet and I am looking forward to the first one in 2016!
